12-14-22 THOUGHTS
Our reading this morning is short but powerful. God’s PLAN to save man in Christ Jesus is our subject. It was God’s design that infants would see His plan rather than the wise and intelligent. How appropriate from the God of LOVE. The weary and heavy-laden are the ones promised rest. Keywords are: Come, Give, Rest, Take, Yoke, Learn, Gentile, Humble in Heart, Burden and Light. Verse 26 says “for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.” When something was “under the yoke,” it was controllable and submissive. It was a learning process! Heb 12:10b-11 says “but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” God, His Son, Man, a Yoking, LOVE... so simple. Rest, but not too soon. The yoke and burden is promised as light and easy.
Matt 11:25-30 At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. 26 "Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 27 "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Rom 8:16-18 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
My Prayer:
Thank You, O Father, for revealing your eternal plan of salvation to us. By faith, we see Jesus and grace and mercy and love. We see You, O God, and we can but praise You, and thank You. We want rest for our souls. We want your presence eternally. We are grateful that this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. Thank you for the peace that is in Christ Jesus.
We pray in His name, Amen
